Original System and getting started...?
there doesn't seem to be much activity in this community but i'll put out there anyway, I've recently been plowing through Donald Tyson's book for beginners, which addresses the original system communicated rather than how the G.D. have applied it.

You've the enochian tools and temple set up with table of practice et cetera... As I would understand it, depending on what time you decide to skry there is a prince for that day with his minister of ruling groups of hours all under the sovereignty of a king... right? and be seated upon, either ministers ring, with prince seal on the table of practice, or vise verse? They don't necessarily have to do with whatever you've to skry but this is set up prior to skrying.

the keys, which the G.D. allocated to the tablets, then act then like invocation to activate whatever part of whatever tablet which corresponds to whatever place dwells the spirit.

and then you begin....

is this right???

I have made the observation that the study of Enochian brings about dreams of Enochian meaning. The first time I experienced this was while studying the GRP of Earth of the GD system. Several other dreams followed during the years. Now I have begun to read the Enochian diaries of Dee followed by a very impressive dream on the subquarters of the tablets.

I am not an ardent or devoted student of the system so far, still stuck in another cycle of QBLHistic workings.... But these observations make me curious if someone else has made a similar experience. And, what do you think about all of this?

The Circumference of the Sigillum Dei Aemeth
extracted from the Vernal Equinox issue of the Coph Nia Wand http://coph-nia-oasis.livejournal.com/14812.html In Operibus Sigillo Dei Aemeth

Part II: The Circumference

By David R. Jones

The circumference of the Sigillum is divided into 40 equal segments (of 9° divisions 360/40=9) containing either letters and numbers or letters alone. The letters and numbers are used in a simple algorithm for drawing out divine names from the circumference which will be dealt with in due course. It is presumed that the reader has read though at least Mysteriorum Liber Secundus prior to reading this analysis.

Thrones: From and in the 40 Chambers are three sets of spiritual creatures.

1. 40 angels are individually associated with the Chambers themselves, their letters and numbers.

2. 7 (plus 2 or 3 hidden) names are drawn by the arithmetical algorithm from the Circumference.

3. The 7 Alphanumeric Seals located within the semicircles that result from the inscription of the Septagon within the Circumference.

The Alignment of Circumference

to the Celestial Sphere

These divisions can also be seen to mark the divisions of the celestial sphere and to have intrinsic meaning of their own. The orientation of the Sigillum is upright on the Holy Table facing east. The 4T located in the first division of the Sigillum's Circumference is therefore oriented toward this eastern position.

This 4T is correlated to the T with 4 flames above it that is the seal of the Eastern Watchtower (whose king is Bataiva/Bataivh 1 ) by Dee is his marginalia to the the Spirit Actions of 25 June 1584: “Vide 1582. 20 Martii. lib. 2” that is to say “See 1582, 20 March, Liber Secundus.” 2 It has been demonstrated elsewhere 3 that the King of the Eastern Watchtower has a dual yet harmonious attribution to Aquarius embracing both the astronomical aspect related to the fixed and ancient Babylonian Royal Star Fomalhaut 4 and to the midpoint of the zodiacal sign of Aquarius. This midpoint corresponds to the half way position between Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox, known in the ancient Celtic calendar as Imbolc. (This day also being known as Brigit’s Day and Candlemas.) 5 Both correspondences are quite ancient and have been associated with the Cherub Man in Ezekiel and in particular the Apocalypse of St. John. It is notable that of the four Watchtowers, only the location this table remains unchanged through the various angelic rearrangements of the order and location of the tables. 6

If this alignment is consistent then other hypotheses regarding attribution can be drawn and tested against the indications given in the Spirit Actions.

Astronomical Alignment

If a Heptagram (that is the basic figure of the Sigillum) in centered on Polaris and a line is drawn from Fomalhaut through it topmost point (here indicated the beginning of the 4T division) and through Polaris, it will bisect both the angle that joins the base points of the Heptagram and the constellation of Leo. This angle not only fully encloses the constellation of Leo but its extension also encompasses the entire sign of Leo, though the two only correspond in part due the phenomena of precession. 7

This angle in the Sigillum contains the line DEIMO30A from the 4th company of pillars. 8 That the arc of the Circumference in which the angle of DEIMO30A is inscribed corresponds to Leo in both astrological and astronomical definitions is confirmed by the description of that line Vivo in sicut LEO in medio illorum, that is “I live as a Lion in their midst.”

This does not in and of itself resolve whether the course of the zodiac proceeds in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. But the following line, from the 5th company of pillars I26MEGCBE says: “Serpens sum, et devoraui serpentem,” and Michael replies: “Et bonis et malis serpens Domine.” That is to say “I am a Serpent and I devoured a serpent,” and “And you are a serpent to good and evil, Lord.” Similarly an arc cut into the Celestial Sphere by the angle that encloses this line encompasses both the tail of Hydra the evil water snake - enemy of Apollo and the head of Serpens the good healing snake of Asklepios.

This would indicate that the Circumference aligns to the Celestial Sphere in natural order though the order of the constellations is clockwise around the figure; different than one would read in an astrological chart, but exactly how they are laid out on an astronomical planisphere and the necessary perspective when viewing the motions of and on the ecliptic from the Northern Hemisphere. 9

This ordering is confirmed again by the next line or the 6th company of pillars ILAOI21 8VN from which a voice declares: “Ignis sum penetralis” - “I am a penetrating fire.” This would harmonize appropriately with Sagittarius, which is both constellationally and astrologically in the arc described by the extension of the angle which contains this line. continued in the Vernal Equinox issue of the Coph Nia Wand

1. This dual relationship is directly related to the two-fold name of the King and his function as conveyer of Knowledge and Judgement in Human Affairs respectively, the solar or astrological aspect being knowledge and the stellar or astronomical aspect being judgement. The fixed stars and their traditional usage and interpretation are worthy of detailed study. Burnham’s Celestial Guide and Gettings’ Dictionary of Astrology vide supra and Richard H. Allen. 2. A True & Faithful Relation p. 173

3. The whole of the Enochian system is keyed primarily to the Apocalypse of St. John, the Kings, for instance, are clearly to be identified with the four beasts who sit about the holy throne in Revelation 4 et passim. Each has six wings which multiplied by four are associated with the 24 elders or seniors. This is exactly the arrangement displayed in the Watchtower system and explicated in the Golden Talisman. Cf. http://library.syncleus.com/Enochian/Rituals/HORSEMEN.TXT for a fuller explanation

4. The so-called “Watchers of the Heavens.” p. 273 Fred Gettings. Dictionary of Astrology. (London: Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1985) and Robert Burnham Jr. Burhams’s Celestial Guide. (New York: Dover, 1978). pp. 1485-1487.

7. Note there is the problem of precession, which affects all direct astrological to astronomical correlations. If they are kept seperate they present little real problem to the magician, but the serious student is advised to compare values for a 1582 epoch, by taking the difference between it and the present date, dividing the result by 72 and shifting the astrological values that many degrees counter to the annual motion of the Sun.

8. Spirit Action of 20 March 1582, Joseph H. Peterson edt. John Dee’s Five Books of Mysteries. Boston MA: Weiser, 2003. pp 130 et passim

9. It seems likely that Dee’s Paradoxical Compass was also laid out in this manner.

Quadricentennial death of Dr John Dee

On Thursday March 26th it will be the quadricentennial death of Dr John Dee, which also happened to be a Thursday. Now I know there is some dispute to the actual year, never mind which date that Dee died – But it’s my belief after research that this is the correct date.

I have some plans to visit Mortlake the place that Dee lived and died on the 26th later in the week. Weather forecast is 'heavy rain' …. We’ll see about that ;-)

On  July 13th 2007 on the 480th anniversary of Dee’s birth I paid a visit to Mortlake. Stood on the ground that Dee’s house was (it’s now sadly just open ground) and crossed the road to look in St. Mary the Virgin church where Dee is buried.

Some of you may be interested in a few pictures that I took at the time of the visit. Go to Live Journal entry:

Podcast 52 - Lon Milo DuQuette’s “Enochian Vision Magick”

Podcast on the Occult of Personality website with Lon Milo DuQuette to discuss his latest book, “Enochian Vision Magick - An Introduction and Practical Guide to the Magick of Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley.”

Enochian Vision Magick by Lon Milo DuQuette

We begin the conversation with an extensive review of Dr. John Dee from a historical perspective including his mathematical skills, astrology, extensive interest in esoteric theory and practices, and his work as a spy.

Lon then describes Dr. Dee’s meeting medium Edward Kelley. Their subsequent workings form the basis for DuQuette’s book “
Enochian Vision Magick.” Lon then helps us understand the extensive attunement process, including the Heptarchia Mystica and Liber Loagaeth and the Angelic alphabet.

heya, i'm new to this community, so bare with me (and my spelling), and forgive me if this isn't the right place for this.
i basically have a few questions regarding the tree of life as well as aleister crowely. basically, i don't have any of crowly's books as i'm broke as a joke and where i live, books of the sort are difficult to come by. but i've been looking online, and i was on Thelemapedia.org reading about the tree of life which all the correspondences and stuff have been taken out of crowely's 777. But ther's a few bits that are in question marks, such as the Devine name of Briah in the fourth sepheroth, Chesed.
I also don't understand what it means when it says "Lineal figures of the planets, &c., and geomancy". I can figure out what the lineal figures of the planets and geomancy are, but i don't kow what &c is. At firt i thought it was a typo, but it has it for each sepheroth.
I assume the book itself would have more information on these, but as i don't have access to it, i'm wonderin if any one might bbe able to shed some light on it for me, or at least direct me to some sites which might be able to.
also, regarding the tree of life, i have read in various things that each sepheroth also conatin another tree of life inside them, and i was wondering how to interperate each of those inner trees. i'm sure there's a whole mess of information which goes along with the answer to this question, but once again, i'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction is all.
thank you very much,a nd sorry if this isn't the right place for this.

Translating Enochian Names
From my last working of ZIP posted on my Blog - veleda wrote: Any idea what 'An-Na-Qua-Ta' means?

An-Na-Qua-Ta was the entity/angel I encountered that judges whether man (after death) is worthy to receive the Light of God (so that he may enter the Shrine of God) or be deemed unworthy and fed to Choronzon in the Abyss.

I have found that interpreting Enochian names depends upon the person doing the interpretation. I tend to look at the name as a reflection of what the angle/entity does. I would be interested in seeing how other people translate Enochian. Below is my translation.

What would yours be and why?

Group work; Ouija
Jerry Cornelius wrote a book called Aleister Crowley and the Ouija Board through Feral House a few years ago. It describes a method of performing group enochian ritual using Ouija, which was allegedly practiced by both Crowley, and his student Grady McMurtry. Has anyone read this? Thoughts? Some friends and I are going to use this book to inform our own group enochian experiment, so more importantly, has anyone here tried it and could give some feedback?

Enochian, moses, and the tablets.
I keep going back, in my head, to something I read somewhere about the enochian language consisting of characters which each, in themselves, contain the compleete meaning of all those words that contain them. Sigils, as it were, for universal, architypal concepts. What's more, being of god (the manifestation of our species' ethic) they would nessicarily relate to moral commons such as those passed down to moses in the ten commandments. Further, my bible with woodcut illustrations by Barry Moser shows the two tablets, each with 5 characters, about 2/3 of which look strikingly enochian. Anyone have any thoughts/notions on this?

Enochian and the Brain
When I was in my teens I spent hours straining my eyes at those stereograms, pictures of dots which turn into a 3D image of you look at them right. Then I learnt at a university lecture that if you have a turn in an eye for the first few years of life at least – as I did – then the part of the brain that does that kind of stereo imaging never develops. Your brain just works out perspective from other cues.

On occasion, when I’m doing a lot of Enochian, when it feels like bits of my brain are rearranging themselves inside my skull, my vision changes (for up to a couple of hours at a time). Everything gets a lot more depth, looks a lot more three-dimensional.

I used to have a friend who had a lot of magical talent, but never trained properly. If she was with me in my temple as I opened the watchtowers and sidge her pupils would change size. One large, one small, the large pupil shrank whilst the small one grew, back and forth, for an hour or so.

A popular theory is that ritual magick is Dionysian, is worked from the right side of the brain. From my own experiences I do not think this is likely true with Enochian, at least.

Does anyone here have any contradictory or supporting experiences? Or any relevant theories?

I want a box with a dial on it, so I can go up to my temple, do my practices, and say to myself something like ‘hmm, not bad, I hit 7.4 thaums that time’.
